Obituary
Lily Shu-Chi Lin Fei
(February 6, 1931 - September 4, 2022)
Lily Fei was born in Surabaya,
Indonesia, on February 6, 1931. She was the middle of nine children, born to
a family with deep ties to Christianity. Her father and grandfather were
pastors, and church was very important to them. It shaped their entire
lives.
Lily’s mother was not in good health. She passed away early at age 40. Lily
was especially close to her mother, and as a young girl, she was her
caretaker to the end. It is no mistake that Lily later became an RN. In
fact, she wanted to be a doctor but that was not a real option for her in
those days.
After her mother’s passing, Lily and her siblings went to China for school.
Lily eventually met a young, handsome, and elegant man named Peter Fei. They
married and came to America. They settled in Huntington, West Virginia,
where Peter was a professor at Marshall University. Lily herself had an
established and successful career as an RN. For years, she also had a
charming store at Heritage Station which sold Chinese decor, clothing, and
jewelry. Lily’s nursing expertise was equally matched by her business acumen
and sense of fashion and style. Throughout their long-married life, Lily and
Peter travelled the world, enjoyed good food with their friends, supported
each other, helped numerous others in the community, and were devoted
members of their church.
After Peter’s passing in 2013, Lily continued to live a full life. She still
enjoyed the company of her friends and fellow church members, good food, and
maintaining regular contact with her family members. Lily always saw the
humor in things and had a sharp wit. She had a passion for life. Above all,
she remained devoted to the church and to the memory of her late husband.
These past five years, Lily resided at The Wyngate in Proctorville, Ohio,
where she will be long remembered for her spirited nature, her commitment to
faith, her love of family, and her epic life story.
Per Lily's request, there will be a private funeral service conducted.
Inurnment will take place at Ridgelawn Memorial Park in Huntington, WV at a
later date. Henson & Kitchen Mortuary, 6357 E. Pea Ridge Road, Huntington,
WV 25705 is caring for the family.
