Martha Givens Newman (88) of Huntington , WV died on August 3, 2010 at the Woodlands Retirement Community. She was born November 23, 1921 in Beckley, WV, and was the daughter of the late Fulton Clay and Edith Patton Givens. She was a member of Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, retired owner of Ewe & Eye Stitchery, Ltd, member of the Tri Area Embroiderers Guild of America, former member of Guyan Country Club, Contact of Huntington, Huntington Women’s Club, and a graduate of Marshall University. She was a past president of WV State Dental Auxiliary, Huntington Dental auxiliary, Huntington Rotary Anns, and Huntington Council of Camp Fire Girls. She is survived by one sister and brother-in-law Agnes and Bob McCaskey in Huntington, two daughters and sons-in-law Anne and Dave Bushnell of Lancaster, PA, Nancy and Rick Charter of Kerrville, TX, a son and daughter-in-law James E. Jr. and Barbara Newman of Orting, WA; seven grandchildren Sarah (Bushnell) and Greg Kapp of Merrimack, NH, Nathan and Cortney Bushnell of Mountville, PA, Greg Charter and Kimberly Charter of Dallas, TX, Marc and Kristin Charter of Houston, TX , Jay Newman and Eric Newman of Orting, WA. and 3 great grandchildren. The memorial service will be held on August 22 at 3:00 at Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Lipphardt officiating. Friends may call from 2:00 to 3:00 prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church.
