Ruth Snider Buie
November 4, 1913 - January 5, 2010



Ruth Snider Buie, 96, of Huntington, WV, passed away at her residence on January 5, 2010 following a brief illness. Services will be held at Noon, Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary by Pastor Jim Harless. Interment will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park. Ruth was born November 4,1913 in Massillon, Ohio, the daughter of the late Fremont and Lillian Kent Snider. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Edward Buie; two brothers, Edward Kent Snider and Eugene Fremont Snider and by an aunt, Margaret Nelson Kent, who raised her after the death of her mother. She was also preceded in death by three cousins, Hope and Hazel Kent and Goldie Kent Eckstein.Mrs. Buie graduated from Huntington High School and attended Marshall (College) University, where she was a member of Kappa Theta sorority and a member of the Panhellentic Council. She was an active member of the Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church and a member of the Cabell County Democratic Club. She worked as a secretary at Turnbull Buick for 20 years.Mrs. Buie is survived by two children, Janet (Dr. William) Grimes of Huntington and David Edward (Margaret Lawrence) Buie of Glen Burnie, MD. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Kristen (David) Rutherford, Jason (Mary Beth) Clark, Sara Elisabeth (Brian) Kraynak and Lauren Jennifer Buie and three great grandchildren, Shelly and Brooke Rutherford and Ava Marie Clark. Also surviving are three step grandchildren, Bill (Sherry) Grimes, Jeff (Becky) Grimes and Carey (Jason) Roland and six step-great grandchildren, Kyle, Coby, Katy, Alex, Ben and Caroline. Also surviving are two special friends, Rocky and Zandra Lawrence. The family will receive friends Saturday at 10 a.m., January 9, 2010 until service time at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
