Mary Jeweldean “Jerry” McComas, of Barboursville, passed away peacefully at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, Wednesday, May 5, 2010. She is now with the Lord and her beloved husband, James D. McComas. She was born January 2, 1921 in Milton, WV, daughter of the late Okel K. and Lillie C. Watson McCallister. She was a retired inspector from Owens-Illinois. Jerry was a member of the Highlawn Baptist Church and the Koinonia Sunday School Class, which she enjoyed so much. She took great pride in her 1000 volunteer hours at St. Mary’s Hospital. She is survived by five children; three sons: Donald L. and Vivian McComas of Tahiti, Michael D. and Carole “Cookie” McComas of Keiser, Oregon, James R. and Gretchen McComas of Solomons, MD; two daughters: Sandra J. McComas of Indianapolis, IN and Judith A. McComas of Veradale, Washington. Jerry had 8 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a special niece, Lisa Stewart of Hagerstown, MD and several other nieces and nephews. After giving up her driver’s license in 2007, she wishes to express a very special thanks to her brother, O.K. McCallister of Huntington, her sister-in-law Betty Poynter of Barboursville, a special neighbor, Mike Sperry of Barboursville and a very special granddaughter, Kim Blanton of Rush, KY. The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to Hospice of Huntington for their loving care and help. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Huntington. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Huntington.
