Betsy Knight Miller
April 8, 1933 - May 19, 2010



Betsy K. Miller, 77, of Huntington, W. Va., passed away Wednesday morning, May 19, 2010, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, May 28, 2010 at Trinity Episcopal Church by The Very Rev’d. R. Kevin Kelly. Betsy was born April 8, 1933, in Huntington, W.Va.. She was a graduate of Marshall University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Education and her Masters Degree in English Literature. She was a loving mother and “Mimi” and a wonderful friend to all who knew her. She was a long time member of Trinity Episcopal Church and an English Teacher for 25 years at Beverly Hills Middle School and the former Huntington East High School. She was actively involved in the community and dedicated many hours to various organizations such as Contact of Huntington, The Huntington Museum of Art, and The Daughters of the King. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Florence Knight Truitt and Ross Knight, and her cousins, Dorothy Johnson Toth, Helen Mortimer and Adam Johnson. Survivors include 2 daughters: Julianne McGinnis McGee of Morgantown, WV, and Katherine Furey of Wilmington, DE; 4 grandchildren: Laura McGinnis of Christiansburg, VA, Brannock Furey, Conor Furey, and Corinne Furey of Wilmington, DE; cousins Becky Hale and Teddy Johnson of Huntington, and Jane Fuller of Summit, NJ. Betsy also leaves behind numerous friends to cherish her memory. Her family is very grateful for all of her loving caregivers and a special thank you to Carolyn Bagby, who helped “Mimi” tremendously her last two years. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2010 prior to the service in the church parlor. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Huntington or the charity of one’s choice.
