Foard
(February 15, 1923 - February 17,
2012)
David Allen Foard, 89, of Huntington,
passed away Friday, February 17, 2012 in the Woodlands Community. He was
born February 15, 1923 in Huntington, son of the late David and Oretha
Morgan Foard. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his
sister, Mary Morgan and a grandson William F. Giesel. Mr. Foard owned and
operated the Foard and Harwood Shoe Store for many years. David served his
country in the U.S. Army in 1941 with Ordinance Weaponry and also served in
the European Theater at Omaha Beach. He attended Marshall University where
he received his BS; a member of the Enslow Park Presbyterian Church of which
he was a Session Elder Emeritus. Additionally, he was a member of the
American Red Cross Blood bank, past president of Downtown Merchants; past
president of the MU Alumni Association; member of the Rotary Club of
Huntington; the Big Green Club of Marshall; The City Club of Huntington, and
a board member of the Huntington Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include his
loving wife, Betty Mann Foard; four children, David Allen Foard III.(Debbie)
of Williamsburg, VA; Mrs. Joe (Nancy) Bashear of California, KY; Mr. Paul
Morgan Foard (Barbara Toole) of Huntington, WV; Mrs. Richard M. (Mary
Shepard) Giesel of Carmel, IN; grandchildren, David Allen Foard IV (Melanie
Klass), Ashleigh Foard Steeter (Brandon), Sam Brashear, Sarah Morgan Foard,
Elizabeth Anne Foard Tucker (Jeff), Virginia Chase Foard Schenk (Michael),
Henry Gresham Giesel and Heath Graves Giesel; four great-grandchildren,
David A.Foard V, Haley Agusta Foard and Chamberlin Brooke and Foard Michael
Streeter. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2012
by the Rev. Chris Perkins at the Enslow Park Presbyterian Church. The family
will receive friends 10:00a.m. until service time. A special thank you goes
to Hospice of Huntington and to the health care staff especially the second
floor at the Woodlands Health Care facility. The family also requests
donations be made to the the Enslow Park Presbyterian Church or to Hospice
of Huntington.
