Kitty Hage
(August 23, 1914 - March 16, 2012)
Cathleen Eleanor Allport "Kitty" Hage,
97, of Huntington, died Friday, March 16, 2012 in Cabell Huntington
Hospital. Kitty was born August 23, 1914 in Oak Hill, (Fayette County)
W.Va., a daughter of the late John G. and Sudye Alice Miller Allport. In
addition to her parents, she was also preceded by her husband, Raymond Hage;
a son, John Robert Hage; two sisters, Pauline Danner and Lois Allport and a
brother, John Allport. She was a graduate of Marshall University earning a
BA and Masters degrees. She taught History and French for several years
before giving her life to volunteerism. She was a volunteer at Cabell
Huntington Hospital for over 45 years and was recognized by the hospital for
her years of service and her "caring spirit". The Women's Philanthropy
Society established the Kitty Hage Lifetime Achievement Award, given
annually to someone who has not sought recognition for her deeds, but has
worked solely to better her community and the quality of life to others. She
was also very active at her Church, St. John's Episcopal Church and many
other organizations. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, The Rev.
Raymond J. and Susan McCray Hage of Huntington; three grandchildren and
their spouses, Shari and Stephen Ward, Amy and Bruce Jacobs and Raymond J.
Hage, Jr. and seven great-grandchildren: Lauren Ward, Huntley Ward, Olivia
Hage, William Hage, Andrew Jacobs, Megan Jacobs and Benjamin Jacobs.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at St. John's
Episcopal Church by The Rev. Canon, Donald K. Vinson, Celebrant. Entombment
will follow in Woodmere Abbey of Remembrance. A gathering of family and
friends will be Tuesday, 11:30 a.m. until service time at the church.
Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of
sympathy may be made to The Cabell Huntington Hospital Auxiliary or St.
John's Episcopal Church. The family wishes to offer special thanks to Anyce
Carter, April Scaggs, Lisa Watts, Sheri Romans, and Pearl Shepard for their
gift of loving care to Kitty.
