Eldona B. Rife
(February 9, 1917 - July 1, 2013)

Rife, Eldona Brumfield, 96, of Huntington, passed away July 1, 2013 after a full and beautiful life. Eldona was born February 9, 1917 in Lincoln County, WV, the daughter of Goldie and Bernie Brumfield. She was one of 14 children and was blessed by a close and loving family. Eldona married Y. Jefferson Rife and they established their home in Kenova where they raised two sons. Eldona was a graduate of Marshall University, earning Bachelor's and Master of Arts degrees in education. She served as a teacher in Wayne County Schools for 25 years. She was a member of the 5th Avenue Baptist Church and former member of the Kenova Baptist Church. Eldona is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son Jefferson Keith Rife. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Lewis and Sandy Rife; grandsons Matthew (Lauren) Rife and Kelly (Megan) Rife; daughter-in-law, Linda J. Rife; and granddaughters, Amy (Matt) Robinson and Karen (David) Weller. Eldona delighted in her great-grandchildren Holly, Anna, and Nolan Rife; Evan Rife; Ethan Robinson; and Kathryn, Samuel, and Elizabeth Weller. She is also survived by two sisters, Betty McGraw and Eloise Fishback, and many nieces and nephews. Eldona was resident of the Woodlands Retirement Community and enjoyed wonderful friendships there. The family would like to extend appreciation to the Woodlands and hospice staff and to dear friend, Mrs. Linda Brewster, for her devotion and care. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 5 at 12:00 p.m. at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary, Huntington. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
