Myrtle Maxwell Archer

Myrtle
Maxwell Archer,
97, of Huntington, W.Va., widow of William Ray
Archer, died March 7, 2014, at Madison Park Assisted Living. She was
born October 26, 1916, in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and was the daughter of the
late Charles Brose Maxwell and the late
Blanche Henderson Maxwell.
Myrtle was the owner of the Arcade Book and
Card Shop, and she was the former president of Archer's Flowers, Inc. She
was a member of the Pilot Club of Huntington for 66 years, co-chairing the
Annual Antique Show for two years. She was a two time winner of the Lucy
Prichard Award recognizing outstanding service.
Myrtle was a Golden Life Member of the Woman's Club of Huntington (50
plus years of service). She was also on the board of the YWCA. She was a
member of the First United Methodist Church for over 70 years. She was
preceded in death by five sisters; Flora Maxwell
Hayes, Helen Maxwell, Leona
Maxwell Miller, Mable
Maxwell Burnette, and Marie
Maxwell Hibbs, and one brother, Lawrence
Emil Maxwell. She is survived by her sons,
William James Archer (Diane) and Scott
Maxwell Archer
(Vickie). She is also survived by her grandchildren; Robert DeMarco
Archer (Anna) , William James "Bull"
Archer, II. (Melanie), Angel Lynn Blake
(Brad), and Scott Maxwell
Archer, II. (Jackie) and great
grandchildren; Samuel Archer, Molly
Archer, Riley Blake, Madeline
Archer, Brady Blake, Mia
Archer, and Macy
Archer. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Robert Winterhoff,
and several nieces and nephews. Klingel-Carpenter Funeral Home is in charge
of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at First United Methodist Church. Funeral service
will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at the church with Rev.
Mark Conner officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
