Mary Lee Hanner
(
December 15, 1936 - March 14, 2014)

Beloved mother and grandmother, Mary Lee Hanner, 77, was called home Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington after a short illness. She was born December 15, 1936 in Cleves, OH, the daughter of Wesley Lee "Buster" and Wilma "Mary" Wells. Mary Lee was a consummate homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Mary Lee loved to sing, dance and laugh with friends. She had a passionate love for her husband, Ivan, her children and later, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born with a heart of gold, Mary Lee was fiercely devoted to rescuing stray and injured animals – nursing dozens back to health over the years. Mary Lee was preceded in death by her adoring husband, Ivan F. Hanner. She was also preceded by her parents and her brother Thomas W. Wells. Mary Lee is survived by her sons Donald L. (Janie) Craig, Terry A. Craig, and her daughter Jennifer L. Hanner. She is also survived by seven grandchildren – Shawn, Melanie, Rachel, Meghan, Christina, Angela and Jacob; three great-grandchildren, Marisa, Hayden and Mason, very dear friends, Dr. Stephen and Nancy-Ann Petrany and their six wonderful children; and her honorary daughter Dreama Lockhart Persinger. The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses involved in her care, most especially the staff at the Hospice House of Huntington for the comfort provided to the entire family during their time there. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held the following day on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 11:00AM at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary. Burial procession will follow immediately with interment at Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, WV. Those who wish may make donations to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington.
