Mary Lee Hanner
(December
15, 1936 - March 14, 2014)
Beloved mother and grandmother,
Mary Lee
Hanner, 77, was called home
Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of
Huntington after a short illness. She was born December 15, 1936 in Cleves,
OH, the daughter of Wesley Lee "Buster" and
Wilma "Mary" Wells. Mary
Lee was a consummate homemaker, wife,
mother, grandmother and friend. Mary
Lee loved to sing, dance and laugh with
friends. She had a passionate love for her husband, Ivan, her children and
later, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born with a heart of gold,
Mary Lee
was fiercely devoted to rescuing stray and injured animals – nursing dozens
back to health over the years. Mary
Lee was preceded in death by her adoring
husband, Ivan F. Hanner. She was also
preceded by her parents and her brother Thomas W. Wells.
Mary Lee
is survived by her sons Donald L. (Janie) Craig, Terry A. Craig, and her
daughter Jennifer L. Hanner. She is also
survived by seven grandchildren – Shawn, Melanie, Rachel, Meghan, Christina,
Angela and Jacob; three great-grandchildren, Marisa, Hayden and Mason, very
dear friends, Dr. Stephen and Nancy-Ann Petrany and their six wonderful
children; and her honorary daughter Dreama Lockhart Persinger. The family
would like to thank the many doctors and nurses involved in her care, most
especially the staff at the Hospice House of Huntington for the comfort
provided to the entire family during their time there. The family will
receive friends on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at
Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary. A funeral service celebrating her life will be
held the following day on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 11:00AM at
Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary. Burial procession will follow immediately with
interment at Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, WV. Those who wish may make
donations to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington.
