Selden Spessard McNeer III
(June 3, 1949 - May 31, 2016)

Selden Spessard McNeer, III, 66, resident of Chesapeake, OH, passed away on May 31, 2016. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2016 by Father John Dixon at the Holy Spirit Antiochian Orthodox Church with visitation 1 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park. He is survived by his parents, Selden S. And Julienne S. McNeer, Jr. of Huntington, WV; brother Gregory A. McNeer of Nashville, TN; sister Julienne J. Burns, her husband James and their four children, Josephine, Chanson, Roberta, and William of Stoutsville, MO; and sister Susannah M. Laney and her husband Robb of Colonial Beach, VA. Selden (Sandy) was born in Huntington, WV on June 3, 1949. He attended Huntington public schools, Christ Church School in Saluda, VA, and graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1971 with a B.A. in French. For many years, he worked at First Huntington National Bank and most recently held the position of Developmental Database Administrator with the Huntington Museum of Art. Sandy had a great regard for ancient languages, teaching himself Mayan and Scots Gaelic. He enjoyed singing, having performed with the Marshall University Choral Union as well as being long-time Choir Director for Holy Spirit Antiochian Orthodox Church. While his hobbies included cooking, computers, and his pets, his greatest love was executing his duties as Subdeacon for his church. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested memorial contributions be made to the church.
