Freda Kagan
(September 10, 1921 - June 30, 2017)


Freda Bondareff Levinson Kagan, of Huntington, WV passed away on the 30th day of June, 2017 at The Woodlands Health Care in Huntington, WV. Freda was born September 10, 1921 in Washington, DC. She was the daughter of Anna Butkusky Bloom Bondareff Levinson and William Jacob Bondareff. Her father died when she was 11 months old and her mother remarried Samuel Levinson who adopted her. Freda married Harold Nathan Kagan on February 14, 1943. She is survived by her children, Scot Alexander Kagan (Sylvia), Drew Terrill Kagan (Bridget), and Brent Siegel Kagan (Lesa); grandchildren, Lisa Beth Kagan (Ellen), Melissa Kagan, Suzanne Kagan Wilson (Matt), Paige Kagan, Nathan Kagan, Hope Kagan, Lindsey Williams, Paul Rogers (Karen), Annette Shepherd (Ashley) and Mark Rogers (Mary); great-grandchildren, Alexander Kagan, Savannah Wilson, Anna McLean Kagan Aiken, Abby Rubich (Josh), Ethan Rogers (Kayla), Alex Omega Rogers, Lottie Shepherd, Jas Shepherd and Rex Rogers; great-great grandchildren, Tennie, Cela and Sloane Rubich and Broxdon Rogers.

Freda was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Marie Bachman and Sylvia Kohrn. Freda had a special relationship with her Aunt Mary and Uncle Siegel.

Freda attended George Washington University. During WWII she worked for the Federal Government in Washington, DC. She was past President of Hadassah in Huntington, WV. Freda was a Silver Life Master in Duplicate Bridge. She was an Honorary Member of Guyan Golf and Country Club Women Golf Association and a member of B'nai Sholom Congregation and The Temble Sisterhood.

Memorial service will be held at Noon, Friday, July 21, 2017 at B'nai Sholom Congregation by Rabbi Jean Eglinton. Those wishing to honor Freda are encouraged to make a donation to B'nai Sholom Congregation.
