Kathryn Louese Merry
(October 15, 1927 - March 3. 2018)



KATHRYN LOUESE McCLUNG MERRY, 90, of Huntington, died Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Woodlands Retirement Community in Huntington.
She was born on October 15, 1927, in Spencer, WV. She was the daughter of the late, William Dennis McClung, M.D. and Louese Kirby McClung of Huntington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Gordon Merry Jr.  Kathryn was a graduate of Chevy Chase Junior College in Chevy Chase, Maryland, she earned her bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University and her master’s degree in Library Science from Marshall University. She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Huntington. She was also a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, P.E.O. International, the Junior League of Huntington, The Garden Club and numerous other civic and volunteer organizations.  She is survived by her son, Amos Gordon Merry, III (Teresa) of Huntington, WV and their son, Amos Gordon IV; daughter,  Margaret Kirby Merry McEvoy (Jeffrey) of Middletown, MD, and their daughter, Kathryn and her stepson, Christian;  son,  William Walker Merry of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughter,  Anne Louise Merry Kowalski (Bruce) of Burlington, NC, and their daughters, Merry Kathryn, Elizabeth Anne and Caroline Grace;  and many dear and cherished friends.  Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary with Rev. James H. Morgan officiating. Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. until service time.  A private committal service for the family will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington.
