Elizabeth Louise Schlegel
(September 24, 1922 - March 4, 2018)

Elizabeth Louise Schlegel, 95, of Huntington, died March 4, 2018 in Kingsbrook Life Care Center in Ashland, KY. She was born September 24, 1922 in Huntington, a daughter of the late George Whitney Schlegel Sr. and Clara Thompson Schlegel. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, George Whitney Schlegel Jr., and by two sisters, Ruth Schlegel Schultz and Clara Thompson Schlegel.  “Betty Lou” as she was known to family and friends was a 1944 graduate of Marshall University with a degree in Business and Science, a lifelong member of the Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church and was retired with 39 years of service from Adel Fasteners Company in Huntington.  She is survived by her niece, Martha Boyd Schlegel and her nephew, George Whitney Schlegel III; great nephew, Walton N. Smith III and great niece, Nancy Ruth Smith; great-great nieces, Isabella Smith, Elizabeth Smith and Clara Elizabeth Goldman; great-great nephews, George and Walton Goldman. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Tomlinson, Carsel Adkins, TJ Sexton and Walton Smith III . A graveside service will be held by the Rev. Teresa Deane at 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2018 in Woodmere Memorial Park’s Abbey of Remembrance.
