Obituary
FRANCES E. BELDON
of Huntington, W.Va., passed away May 20, 2012, at the Emogene Dolin Jones
Hospice House. She was 89 years old, born January 10, 1923, in Seco, Ky.,
the daughter of the late Leonard and Sarah Blair Evans. She is survived by
her husband of 67 years, William W. Beldon; her daughter and spouse Sara and
Marty Curtis of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; her daughter Rena K. Beldon of
Huntington; her son and spouse William R. and Beverly Beldon of Huntington;
and her sister and spouse Mary Katherine and Kenneth Frye of Woodstock, Va.;
and two granddaughters and two great-granddaughters. She was a graduate of
Paintsville High School in Kentucky, Berea College and from Marshall
University (Master’s degree). She was married at the conclusion of World War
II to William, and they began their life together in Huntington, raising a
family. She taught Social Studies for 30 years on the third floor of the
former Cammack Junior High School. She was a member of the Vinson Memorial
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) as well as the Westmoreland Quilt
Blockers group. She was also a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa sorority,
dedicated to education. Throughout her life she enjoyed knitting, sewing and
working in her flower garden. In her retirement she served as a volunteer at
the Heritage Farm Museum and Village and the Westmoreland Neighborhood
Association. The family thanks the many friends and caregivers, especially
Geraldine Hale, who comforted Frances during her illness. Funeral services
will be held noon at the Reger Funeral Chapel Wednesday, with Chaplain Pablo
Gonzales officiating. Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Burial Park in
Ashland, Ky.
