Obituary
James L. Dameron,
of Huntington, WV passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012, in his 86th year at
St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m.
Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, of which he was a
faithful member, with Father Ralph Strohm officiating. Burial will follow in
Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington. Born February 1St. 1926 at Russell, Ky; he
was the son of the late Ruth Pancake Dameron and the late James L. Dameron,
Sr. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosemarie Leslie and Juanita
Burke, and one step-son John Parsons, a brother-in-law Hampton Hickman and
one niece Susan McKnight. Mr. Dameron served in the 2nd World War in the
service of the Army Air Corps, later changed to the United States Air Force,
and also in the Korean Conflict. After 44 years with (C&O) CSX Corporation
in Huntington, he retired as an accountant and superintendent of costs in
the mechanical and finance departments. He was a graduate of Russell High
School and Marshall University, having received a B.A. and Masters of
Business Degree. He was a 50 year member of the Masons, Poage Lodge #325 F
&AM of Ashland, Ky., The Valley of Covington, Ky. The Scottish Rite, 32nd
Degree Mason ,Huntington Commandery # 419, Knights Templar and El Hasa
Temple of Ashland, Ky. and the B.P.O.E. #313 of Huntington, W.Va. He is
survived by his wife of 27 years Betty Jean Clark Dameron, two step-children
and one spouse, Penny and Curt Jones of Ona, W.Va, David Parsons of
Huntington. Six grandchildren, Jonathan, Michael, Hannah Jones, Brieanna,
Zachary Parsons and Matthew Parsons. He is also survived by one sister,
Edith Hickman of Flatwoods, Ky., two nephews, Frank (Glynda) Hickman, and
Jack McKnight, and one niece Marie (Bill) Stafford and their children. One
sister-in-law and brother-in-law Nora and Terry Edgell, and his faithful
companion and lap sitter Jacques II survive him as well. Friends and family
may call Wednesday May 23, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m.
at the church. Military rites will be provided by the Veterans Honor Guard
of the American Legion Post 16 of Huntington and Masonic Rites performed by
Poage Lodge 325 F & AM of Ashland, Ky. Reger Funeral Home is assisting the
family with arrangements.
