Burman Nelson
(January 11, 1929 - December 14, 2013)



Burman Nelson, 84, of Huntington, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013 in Cabell Huntington Hospital surrounded by his family. Funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 1:00pm at the Reger Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Burman was born January 11, 1929 in Wayne County, WV, to Andrew Nelson and Clarcie (Queen) Nelson and was the last surviving child of this union. Burman retired from Owens Illinois after 41 years of service and was an active coon hunter. He was a member of the Philadelphia United Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his 3 brothers Steve, Richard and Lewis Nelson and 6 sisters: Arvilla Robertson, Dorothy Nelson, Marinda Craigo, Ida Carroll, Cora Walters and Northa Walters all of which he loved dearly. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Mary Pauline (Cosana) Nelson, three children Linda Sue (David) Lemons, Rinda Duncan, Burman Allen (Annie) Nelson. Ten grandchildren: David Nelson (Debbie) Lemons, Ronald Smith, Shane Smith, Leah Lemons, Mary Frances (Eddie) Pratt, Toni Hamilton, Johnny Kearney, Erin Kearney, Shane Kearney, Travis Kearney. 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild and a very special friend of the family Kay Spry as well as a host nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Papaw will be missed by all who knew and loved him and wonderful memories will be cherished forever.
