James Edward Robertson
(October 17, 1926 - December 8, 2013)



James Edward Robertson, 87, of South Point, Ohio, formerly of Kenova, WV, husband of Wanda Jean Harris Robertson, passed away Sunday December 8, 2013 in King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, KY. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Wednesday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Carl Lilly, Pastor Jody Fortner and Pastor Willie May. Burial will follow in Rome-Proctorville Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. He was born October 17, 1926 in Genoa, WV, a son of the late Mike and Luverna Workman Robertson. He was a retired welder with 36 years of service with the Ohio River Company. James was a member of Sunshine Freewill Baptist Church and was a well known gospel singer in the Tri-State area and sang with the Melatone Quartet. He was a Veteran of both the US Army and US Navy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son Thomas Edward and a sister Lois Lucille Robertson. Additional survivors include a son and daughter in law James Leslie and Connie Robertson of Proctorville, Ohio; grandson Aaron Robertson; two brothers and a sister in law Charles Robertson of Kenova and Mackie and Angela Robertson of Huntington; three sisters and two brothers in law Juanita and Robert Chaffins of Fayetteville, NC, Lorita O’Meara of Charlotte, NC and Dreama and David Klaiber of Summit, KY and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 11:30 am until service time on Wednesday at the Reger Funeral Home. VFW 6878 of Proctorville, Ohio will conduct military graveside rites.
