Obituary
Zella Mae Lassiter Pearce,
84, of Milton W.V., formerly of Deming, N.M. passed away Thursday march 6,
2014 at Cabell Huntington Hospital Huntington W.V. She was born September
9th, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri and was raised in Volga, Iowa by the late
Herald and Clara VanBibber Rogers. She was a former co-owner of a hotel and
restaurant in New Mexico. She was of the Presbyterian faith and was an avid
gardener and quilter. She also supported animal rescue efforts. In addition
to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Pearce.
Two brothers Edward “Eddie” Rogers and Charles Rogers two sisters Lorraine
Clear and Rosalie Elben and her uncle Hardy Rogers who raised her. Survivors
include a son and daughter-in-law Roland Reed “Skeeter” Lassiter Jr. and his
wife Gloria Lassiter of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Two daughters and
sons-in-law Sandra Lee Lassiter Boerstler-Reinke and her husband Frank
Reinke of Germany. Gloria Jean and Michael Ferguson of Largo, Florida. Two
step sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Maria Pearce of Las Cruces, New
Mexico and Daniel and Sherry Pearce of Albuquerque, New Mexico. 12
grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted
at 11:30 am Friday at the United Methodist Church of Volga, Iowa. Burial
will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Volga, Iowa. Friends may call from 10:30
am until service time at the church.
