Obituary
MARIE BETH MURPHY,
63, of Shoals, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on November 7, 2014 while
surrounded by family and friends in her loving home. She was preceded in
death by her parents Harold and Evelyn Perdue. She is survived by her
devoted husband of 45 years Michael W. Murphy. She leaves behind to cherish
her memory her three children Heather (Anthony) Wheeler, Reta (Marc) Collins
and Wade (Kathryn) Murphy all of Huntington. She was known by her grandkids
as their Awesome Maw, Reid and Sulley Collins, Oakley and Vance Wheeler.
Surviving siblings include Harold (Janice) Perdue, Sharon Houchin(Richard
Stuart), Phillip (Brenda) Perdue and many special nieces and nephews whom
she loved as her own. Surviving sister-in-law and brothers-in-law also
include Mary Ann (Larry) Rowe and Leslie Murphy and Butch Gibson. Beth was
an active member and faithful Christian of FIMBC where she loved working on
the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Ministry and Blessing in a Backpack
which was always her mission to help children in need. She enjoyed
volunteering at Buffalo Valley Church Camp for the past twenty years. She
worked for Wayne County Board of Education for twenty years. Some of her
favorite things where Sunday dinners with family, riding her tractor,
working in her wood shop, riding dirt bikes and spending time with her
grandkids. She was the hardest worker we ever knew. A special thank you to
her lifelong friend Daisy Pennington who dedicated her time each day reading
daily devotion to her. Many thanks to her special nurse Jennifer Brown at
ECCC who was with her every step of the way and a heartfelt thanks to our
Hospice nurse's, staff and aides for the excellent care, devotion and
compassion you have shown during this journey. Visitation will be Monday,
November 10, 2014 from noon until 2 p.m. at the Reger Funeral Home. Services
will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Reger Funeral Chapel with Pastor
Scott Byard officiating. Burial will follow in Brumfield Cemetery, Wayne
County, with music provided by Pastor Scott Byard and Tyler Robertson.
