Dr. Walter C. Felty
Dr. Walter C. Felty, of Huntington, 92, died September 26, 2014 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. Parents Walter Felty, Sr. and Mary Adkins Felty and sister, Marie Tatum, preceded him in death. He is survived by nieces, Rose Thompson (Eddie) and Grace Badgett (John); several nieces, nephews, special great niece, Taylor Thompson, and special friend, Pam Cremeans, who cared for him during his long illness and with whom he attended Apostolic Life Cathedral. Dr. Felty served under General Patton during WWII receiving the Purple Heart and other distinguished medals. He was a retired professor of Marshall University where he made many contributions creating the campus Audio-Visual Center, developing two two-year programs in Library Science and Educational Media, Master's degree in Communication Arts and served on many campus committees. He had many publications and participated in state and National Educational Media organizations. He was very active and devoted to several veterans organizations for which he took pride. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Monday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Edwin Harper and Pastor Eddie Thompson. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington. Friends may call from noon until service time on Monday at the Reger Funeral Home. The Veterans Honor Guard of American Legion Post 16 of Huntington will conduct graveside military rites.
