VIOLA SMITH ROBERTSON
(October 16, 1923 - May 9, 2015)

VIOLA SMITH ROBERTSON died peacefully in her sleep at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House on May 9, 2015. Viola was born in Waldo, Fla., the daughter of Herbert and Essie Mae Smith. The family moved to Milton, W.Va., while she was a young child and she spent the rest of her years in Milton. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, her sisters Estella Ray and Ruby Bragg and her grandson, Mark Mullins. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sue Mullins and husband, Larry Mullins of Perrysburg, Ohio, Annie Kerns of Urbana, Ohio, Kathy Boggs and husband, David Boggs of Milton, Gail Hutchinson and husband, Bud of Milton; her grandchildren, Mike Mullins, Amy Kerns Rutan, Lori Boggs Lambert, Andy Boggs, Cory Hutchinson, Joshua Hutchinson, Emily Hutchinson Holbert and 16 great-grandchildren. Viola was a dedicated homemaker who excelled at all types of needlework, including crocheting, knitting, quilting and sewing. She loved making beautiful sweaters and booties for all the babies in the family. Her skills in baking were world class and everyone had a favorite request for family gatherings. In her earlier years, she and her husband enjoyed traveling. They fished for snook in Florida and for trout in Montana, Wyoming and West Virginia with family. On their annual trips to Florida, she made beautiful porcelain baby dolls, even making baby doll clothing to fit each doll. There will be a private memorial service for family members to say goodbye. The family would like to thank the medical staff at both Cabell Huntington Hospital and the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House for their excellent care.
