ObituaryRussell Lee Warden
Rev. Russell Lee Warden died on Dec. 16, 2016 at home. He was born on April 3, 1923 in Cabell County. He was a son of the late John Emmitt Warden and Dottie Belle (Houchin) Warden. He was preceded in death by his wife Gathel Margaret (Holbrook) Warden, four brothers, Oscar, Carl, Arthur, and Irvin Warden, and two sisters, Lucy Warden and Marie Waugh. He is survived by his three sons, Johnny, Terry, and Donald Warden; two daughters-in-law, Linda Warden and Maureen Warden; and two sisters-in-law, Antha Fulks and Winona Holbrook. He has five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was a veteran of World War II and served with the 1st Cavalry Division in the South Pacific. He was wounded on the Island of Luzon in the Philippines on April 16, 1945. He retired from Columbia Gas, after 32 years of service. He also was a pastor of several churches in Cabell and Wayne counties. The family would like to thank Hospice for their great care. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
