Eugene "Gene" Hileman
(November 1, 1931 - January 22, 2016)

Eugene Hileman, 84, of Barboursville, WV, husband of Henrietta Alderman Hileman, was called Home to be with the Lord on Friday night, January 22, 2016. Eugene “Gene” was born on November 1, 1931 at Stirrat, WV (Logan County). He was the oldest child of the late Olyph William Hileman and Georgia Helen Ward Hileman. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Douglas Hileman, a brother-in-law, John B. Caldwell, and by a nephew, David B. Caldwell. Gene was a graduate of Logan High School, a former coal miner, a United States Marine Corps Veteran, a Korean War Veteran having served on the front lines of combat, a Coyne Electrical School graduate and a retired electrician having worked out the the I.B.E. W. Local 317 for over thirty-five years. He was also an avid fisherman. He was a member of Dillon Chapel United Methodist Church where he lovingly and faithfully served the Lord for over fifty years. He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Henrietta Alderman Hileman; his daughter, Tonya Lynn Hileman Shell; his two beloved grandchildren, his granddaughter, Jennifer Nicole Shell Adkins and her husband Chad, and his grandson and namesake, Jacob Eugene Shell and Jacob’s girlfriend, Elizabeth Bray. Gene’s greatest joys in life were being with his grandchildren and serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Gene is also survived by one brother, Leroy (Charlotte) Hileman of Bilingbrook, IL, and two sisters, Alice Caldwell of Xenia, OH and Patty (Bill) Ellis of Manasses, VA, and a sister-in-law, Jo Hileman of Barnabus, WV; many nieces and nephews, and is survived by his beloved cat Izzie, and all of the “neighborhood” cats whom he lovingly fed everyday. Services to celebrate Gene’s life and his homegoing will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Dillon Chapel United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Bob Talbert. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday at the church from 6-9 p.m. and after 12:00 noon Thursday at the church. Pallbearers will be Jacob Shell, Chad Adkins, Mark Hileman and P.D. Hileman. The family is very appreciative of the kind gesture of flowers, but requests that in lieu of flowers that donations in memory of Gene be made to the Dillon Chapel United Methodist Church, 4421 16th Street Road, Huntington, WV 25701-9764. The family would also like to thank the Intermediate Care Staff, the MICU Staff, especially nurses Katie, Julie and Brandy, of St. Mary’s Medical Center, Dr. Donahue, Dr. Collins and Dr. Linsenmeyer for their valiant efforts to save Gene’s life, but it was time for him to rest and go home. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, is in charge of arrangements.  2 Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge shall give me at that day. Not to me only but to all them also that love his appearing.
