David Ray Smith
(September 26, 1928 - January 2, 2016)



David Ray Smith, 87, of Barboursville, formerly of Ashland, Ky., went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 2, 2016. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Don Weeks. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park, Ashland, Ky. He was born September 26, 1928, in Pettus, WV, a son of the late Guy and Lena Browning Smith. He faithfully attended Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Korean War. He retired after 30 years of working at Mansbach Metal Company in Ashland. He was an avid mall walker at the Ashland and Huntington Malls. He is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Phyllis McKenzie of Ashland and Vanessa and Ellis Bailey of Barboursville; the mother of his children, Violet Smith; three grandchildren, Will and Stephanie McKenzie, Courtney and Ryan Huffstutler and Chelsea Bailey; and two great-grandchildren, Allie and Sadie Huffstutler. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
