ObituaryJOHNNIE JOHNSON MURRAY
JOHNNIE JOHNSON MURRAY, 94, of Huntington, peacefully passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016. He was born March 22, 1922, in Mount Gay, W.Va., a son of the late Wilsie Constantine Murray and Laura Ferguson Murray. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Irene Nelson Murray, second wife Iona G. "Bunny" Murray, and one sister, Marguerite "Willie" Nelson. He was a US Army infantryman receiving a Purple Heart, Bronze Service Star, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and European-African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon. After returning from service, he attended Marshall University. He was an inspector at INCO and coached Little League. He is survived by two sons and their families, David Nelson Murray and his wife Kathy of Flagler Beach, Fla., and Phillip Allen, wife Valerie Murray and their son Michael of Charleston, S.C., and longtime friends Phyllis Jimison and the late Homer Jimison. The family would like to thank Doris Eloise Hatfield for years of caring, love and companionship. We will be forever grateful. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2016, at White Chapel Memorial Gardens with Rev. Kevin Lantz officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
