Herbert S. Nida Jr.
(June 4, 1920 - August 28, 2017)



Herbert S. Nida, Jr., 97, of Salt Rock, WV, went home to be with the Lord on August 28, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born June 4, 1920, the son of the late Herbert S. Nida Sr. and Bertha Bailey Nida. He worked at Zenith Optical and Polan Ind. He and his first wife, Druzella Nida owned and operated Nida’s Ashland Oil Gas Station. He developed Jason Court Sub Div. at Merrits Creek. He owned and operated Herb’s Auto Sales Inc at Salt Rock, WV, with his two sons, Jennings Ray and Gene Nida, AMC, Jeep, and Subaru Dealer. He owned and developed Regal Oaks, Inc. with his two sons, Jennings Ray and Gene Nida. He was a founding member of Glory Way Baptist Church. He and his first wife, Druzella was married September 3, 1937, they had five children. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Druzella Nida, his second wife, Irene Nida; one daughter, Alice Faye, two sons, Kermit “Butch” Nida and Homer Eugene Nida; several brothers and sisters. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jennings Ray and Jo Nida; one daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Frankie Jobe; daughter-in-law, Barbara Nida; one brother, Calvin Nida; five grandchildren, Lesa and Joseph Nida, Shelley (Mike) Gibson, Ryan (Brittany) Jobe, Missie (Brian) Cole; five great grandchildren, Jacob, Ethan, Avery, Bethany, and Amanda. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2017, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Preacher Junior Steward and Preacher Jason Black. Burial will be in Baylous Cemetery. The family would like to thank his favorite doctor, Dr. Shawn Coffman and his staff.
