Obituary


Edith Abigail Colburn, 97, of Huntington and Martinsburg went to be with the Lord Thursday, Jan 27th 2011 at Heartland Nursing Home. Born June 27, 1913 in New Jersey she was the daughter of the late Edith and Ralph Blood. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray S. Colburn; a sister, Elinor Hazlett, two brothers, Charles and Frank Blood. She was a Graduate of Huntington High School and was a charter member of Highlawn Presbyterian Church and longtime member of the Women’s Circle. She was a loving Mother, homemaker and secretary for the Cabell County school system and Marshall University. She is survived by a son, James Colburn and his wife Virginia of Faber, VA.; and a daughter, Sue Ruest and her husband Richard of Martinsburg; she has five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Dr Heather Colburn and husband Steve Kane of Chicago IL.; Sarah Schmidt and her husband Eric and great-grandchildren Madeline and Alex Schmidt of Palmyra VA.; Christopher Ruest and his wife April and great-grandchildren Peyton and Dilyn Ruest of Martinsburg, WV; Peter Ruest and his wife Erin Arnold of Chicago IL,; Jeffery Ruest and his wife Amber and great-grandchildren Ashlyn and Jaxson Ruest of Hedgesville, WV. Arrangements are being made by Beard Mortuary, Huntington, WV for Saturday Jan 29th. A private burial service will be done at 1 PM. Memorial Service will be held at Highlawn Presbyterian Church Saturday, Jan 29, 2011 at 2 pm. Contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Highlawn Presbyterian Church, 2816 Collis Avenue, Huntington, WV 27502 or a charity of one’s choice.
