James Franklin Boone
July 4, 1915 - March 18, 2009


James Franklin Boone, 93, of Huntington, WV passed away at the Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center on March 18, 2009. He was born July 4, 1915, the son of the late James Rankin Boone and Vergie Lee Cavendish. James was also preceded in death by his wife, Frances Elizabeth Powers Boone and two sisters Oretha Boone Martin and Margaret Elizabeth "Peggy" Boone Cyrus. He is survived by his son and daughter-in law, David L. and Brenda Boone, a grandson and his wife, James David "J. D." and Rachel Boone, and great grandson Nicolas Trevor Boone all of Wayne, WV. Mr. Boone is also survived by four nieces, Sally O. Cyrus, Judith Cyrus Johnson, Elizabeth "Betty" Martin and Nancy Martin Bailey. For 15 years Jim worked for his brother-in-law, Evan M. Cyrus in the Cavendish-Cyrus Hardware Co. and briefly for J. L. Cook Hardware. Next he became a tool and die maker at the Adel Division of General Metals (makers of airplane clamps). After 33 years of service James retired in 1977. He had advanced to plant superintendent of the Adel Division of Delaval Turbine of California. The plant closed in 1992. Jim was a Master Mason of The Grand Lodge of West Virginia, A.F. & A. M., Huntington Lodge No 53. Jim enjoyed collecting and building model trains specializing in HO scale. He also had a collection of steam engines. His collections have been sold. For eleven years in the late 30s and early 40s, he rode Harley Davidson motorcycles and participated in many hill climbs, races and club trips. Private services were conducted at Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Entombment was in the Abbey of Devotion. Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, assisted the family.
