Jewett Adkins
(August 16, 1925 - June 27, 2010)


Mr. Jewett Adkins, 84, of Milton, formerly of Huntington, died Sunday, June 27, 2010, in the VA Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 30, 2010, with Ernest M. Ritchie officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. He was born August 16, 1925 in Cabell County, a son of the late Alden and Spicy Adkins He was a construction worker, and a veteran of WW II, serving with the US Navy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Shirley and Russell Adkins, and three great grandchildren. Surviving are: a daughter, Donna J. Lucas, of Huntington; four grandchildren, Donald E. and Lisa Lucas, Kimberly J. Martin Kirby, Lora A. Lucas and David W. and Ellen Lucas; 14 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a lifelong friend, Mike Mayse, of Kenova, WV. Military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post # 9738. Friends may call at Chapman's Mortuary from 6 pm until 8 pm Tuesday June 29, 2010.
