Daniel Lee Irby
(December 1, 1925 - June 20, 2010)



Daniel Lee Irby, 84, of Huntington, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday, June 20, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Chapman's Mortuary with Darrell Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park. He was born December 1, 1925, in Huntington, a son of the late Leslie and Tessie Flowers Irby. On April 1, 2010, his wife of 56 years, Marion Rose Irby passed away. Two sisters and three brothers also preceded him in death. He was a WWII U S Army veteran. Dan retired from CSX after 42 years of service as a machinist. He faithfully attended Huntington Gospel Chapel. He enjoyed singing, playing his harmonica and having fellowship with his family, friends and brothers and sisters in Christ. He is survived by his loving daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Jim Evans of Barboursville, and Darrell and D.J. Adkins of Huntington; a brother, Jack Irby of Huntington; one granddaughter, Alison Oritz, one step granddaughter, Christy Schoemer, three great-grandchildren, Jon Oritz, Tiffani and Jarek Montgomery, two step great-grandchildren, Kayla and Mike Schoemer all of Barboursville, and a step great-great grandson Anthony James Rucker. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. We will miss you.
