As a Huntington native she was a member of the first graduating class of Huntington East High School. She was one of the founding ladies of the Lavalette Woman's Club. During World War II she lived in Norfolk Va, where she worked and sang in the USO shows. After returning to Huntington she married her high school sweetheart and continued to sing in numerous contests and performed with many big bands. She was a member of Lavalette United Methodist Church where she served on several committees and continued to share her beautiful voice by singing in the choir. Dorcas was preceded in death by her mother Jesse Hodges Meade, her husband K P Owens and her brother Robert Bailey. She leaves behind her daughter and best friend Deborah Owens Holland, granddaughter DeAnn Holland, 2 great grandsons Drew Holland and Dylan Conn, special member of the family Tammy Adkins, and a host of dear friends. The family would like to thank Karen Daniels, the staff at Gentiva, and the ICU staff at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
