Lester Melwood "Mutt" Tackett

Lester Melwood “Mutt” Tackett, 89, of Huntington, WV, died Wednesday November 28, 2012 in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday December 1, 2012 at Chapman’s Mortuary Huntington with Pastor Bob Hogsett officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Mutt was born June 29, 1923 in Scioto County, OH, a son of the late George Washington & Mary Vititoe Tackett. He retired from the WV American Water Co. with 34 years of service. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years Anna Bell Manning Tackett, five brothers; Carl, Herbert Leslie, George Washington, Jr., Paul and Jimmy Tackett, and one sister; Easter Burns. Survivors include one daughter, Laddonia Blevins, one granddaughter, Jaymie Renee Blevins and one great granddaughter, Kathlyn “Katie” Scarlett Meek all of Huntington, one brother Calvin Tackett of Chesapeake, OH, two sisters, Edna Mae Smith & Mary Christian both of Proctorville, OH, two special friends who were his “surrogate” granddaughters, Jessica Painter & Sandra Wilson both of Huntington, a host of nieces and nephews and his loving dog “Rascal”. The family would like to thank Dr. David Patick and the nurses at both St. Mary’s Medical Center and the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House for all their loving care. Friends may call at Chapman’s Mortuary from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday November 30, 2012.
