Obituary

Edward Phillip Murphy
(April 19, 1936 - February 13, 2015)



Edward Phillip Murphy, Jr, 78, of Huntington, WV, died Friday, February 13, 2015, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday, February 19, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Huntington, with Father Dean Borgmeyer officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Edward was born April 19, 1936 in Alexandria, VA, a son of the late Edward Phillip and Agnes Zuby Murphy. He was an Executive Sales Manager for a Logistics Company. After he graduated from St. Joe High School he enlisted in the U.S.Air Force and was stationed in Germany. He faithfully attended both St. Joseph and Our Lady of Fatima Churches and was an avid Marshall University fan. He was preceded in death by one sister, Joanette Chapman-Kellogg. Survivors include: two daughters, Deborah Murphy-Ensign of Mission Viejo, CA and Becky Jo Overman of Loudonville, OH; one son, Michael Murphy of Elk Grove, CA; one sister, Mary Imelda Plymale of Dayton, OH; seven grandchildren, Cheyenne Wise, Jonathan, Katelyn, Zachary, and Megan Rose Ensign and John Paul and Matthew; and many friends including special friends, John Kearney, Frankie Lovisa and Bruna Webb. Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 will conduct military graveside rites. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to the funeral home to offset funeral expenses. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Thursday at the church.
