Obituary

James Donald Chapman
(January 20, 1939 - June 9, 2015)


James Donald Chapman, 76, of Lesage, WV, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at the Huntington Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was born January 20, 1939 in Mt. Olive, Fayette County, WV a son of the late James and Mary Katherine Loudermilk Chapman. A brother, William Chapman, also preceded him in death. He was retired from United Mine Workers with over 20 years of service in Fayette and Kanawha counties; was a retired electrician having worked 12 years at Trans Fab; and was a member of the United Steelworkers Union. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served from 1956 to 1959 and was a member of the Gauley Bridge Masonic Lodge. He loved hunting and fishing. Survivors include: his companion, Annie Deloris Adkins Ratliff; three sisters, Jo Ellen Huddleston, Cecelia Jane Bare and Toni Bare; and a brother, David Earl Chapman. In accordance with his wishes, James was cremated and there will be no services. Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, is assisting the family.
