Roger Dale "Doc" Adkins
(December 22, 1954 - May 27, 2009)


Roger Dale “Doc” Adkins, 54 of Huntington, WV passed away May 27, 2009 while visiting in Lee County, FL. Roger was born December 22, 1954 in Huntington, WV a son of Roy Adkins Jr. and the late Geraldine Connard Adkins. He was a former employee with Cabell Huntington Hospital with over 25 years experience. Roger was a Vietnam Veteran who proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. He had been a member of Highlawn Full Gospel Assembly where he was an Elder, a Usher and a singer in the New Beggining Choir. Roger was also preceded in death by a brother, Albert L. Adkins. Survivors include his father, Roy Adkins Jr. of Huntington; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and C.L. King and their children, Megan, Caitlyn and Cameron all of Proctorville, Ohio; a son and daughter-in law Jason Allen and Jennifer Adkins and their son Jason Jr. all of Huntington; two brothers David and Ronnie. He is also survived by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, his church family and friends as well as his friends throughout the community.

Roger is now in Heaven with the love of his life, the late Patricia Ann Adkins. His soul is at peace in the Heavens with “Patty” and his mother Geraldine Adkins. To most everyone he was known as “Doc”, but to his grandchildren he was lovingly known as Poppy. Please join us June 11, 2009 at 11 am as we honor Roger’s memory at Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, 924 20th Street, Huntington.
