Stanley Harper
(May 25, 1922 - May 27, 2009)



Stanley Harper, 87 of Huntington, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral Service will be 1 PM Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at 16th Street Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Terry officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington. Stanley was born May 25, 1922 in Greensboro, Alabama, a son of the late Lee Andrew and Nettie Holly Harper. He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army who served during WWII. He was retired from ACF Industries and had worked for the City of Huntington. He was a member of the 16th Street Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Harper; and six brothers and sisters, Rayfield C. Harper, Sr., Natchel Harper, Coolidge Harper, Clarence Harper Mary E. Harper Cobbs and Cassie Jewett. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Pearl Lee Whitsett Harper; five children, Dorothy (Claude) Rinehardt, Stanley Harper Jr.(Angie Akers), Marie Harper, Joseph Harper and Darlene Logan (John) all of Huntington; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be noon until service time Tuesday at the church. The care and service of Mr. Harper is under the direction of Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Huntington.
