Obituary

David Parker Barnes Sr.
(November 18, 1920 - May 28, 2009)

David Parker Barnes Sr., 88 of Huntington passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. David was born November 11, 1920 in Dora Alabama, a son of the late U. L. and Susie Barnes. He was preceded in death by his daughter Anne Michelle .David served as a Navy Veteran during World War II aboard the U.S.S Yorktown. He was a 33rd degree Mason and Post Grand Master. He was a member of Young Chapel A.M. E. Church. He retired from International Nickel Company in 1983 where he was employed as a machinist. Survivors include his loving wife, Corintha Mae Wheeler Barnes; one son, David P. Barnes, Jr. of Huntington; one brother, Ernest Barnes of Los Angeles, CA; two grandchildren, Parker David Barnes and Ryan Wilson Barnes. Per his request there will be no visitation or funeral services. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Huntington is assisting the family.
