Obituary

LINDSAY JOEL COGAR
(August 20, 1960 - December 8, 2014)



Lindsay Joel Cogar, 54, of Huntington, passed away Monday December 8, 2014 at his residence. He was born August 20, 1960, in Cabell County, a son of the late Tom A. Cogar, and Jane Maralee Cogar of Milton. He was a 1978 graduate of Milton High School, and attended Marshall University. Lindsay was a talented and creative chef, having been head sous chef for a hotel in Amarillo, TX, then managing many restaurants in his career, including The Petite Cafe in Lazarus for several year  Lindsay traveled the Eastern Caribbean, serving as a yacht pilot for an inter-island transportation service in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands He then worked with the Boilermakers Union, and volunteered many hours of his time with the American Legion.  He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 177 in Barboursville, WV, serving on the Board, and also formerly serving as Chaplain.  Lindsay was a kind soul with a heart of gold, thoughtful & considerate, with a happy-go-lucky nature that made him well liked to all who knew him.  He will always be remembered for his baby blue eyes, and will be sorely missed by his friends & family, especially his wife, Cindy as he was the love of her life.  In addition to his Mother, Lindsay is survived by his wife Cindy Huffman Cogar of Huntington, W.Va; father-in-law Jule Huffman of Huntingon, W.Va; his sister, Suzanne Cogar of Milton, W.Va; two brothers, Allen Cogar and wife Sabra of Pompano Beach, Fla.; Greg Cogar and fiancé, Carmen of Scott Depot, W.Va; brother-in-law, Marvin Huffman of Huntington, W.Va; sister-in-law, Nancy Huffman Palmer and husband Bob of Ky, Jeremy Huffman of Huntington, W.Va, and his very special nephews, who were the light of his life, Jacob Cogar of Milton, W.Va and Tommy Allen Thompson and great niece Maggie of Lexington, Ky.  Visitation will be conducted from 6-8 PM on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Henson & Kitchen Mortuary, Barboursville, W.Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 12, 2014 at Henson-Kitchen Mortuary, by Rev. Skip Seibel and Pastor Jeff Kanode officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, W.Va. Those serving as Pallbearers will be Greg Cogar, Marvin Huffman, Tommy Thompson, Joe Wenck, and Dale McClendon
