Shirley Crum
(May 28, 1937 - April 26, 2014)

Shirley Marie Crum, 76, of Watertown, WI (formerly of Jackson Ave., Huntington), went home to be with her Savior April 26, 2014, at Marquardt Health Center. A celebration of her life took place at Calvary Baptist Church of Watertown April 29. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service Saturday, May 3, at 10 a.m. at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV. Ron Caudill, Kelly Crum’s father, will minister. Friends are welcome to visit the family at a light luncheon at Grace Gospel Church following the graveside service. Shirley was born May 28, 1937, in Huntington, a daughter of the late Frances Earl and Mary Pauline (Wallace) Houchin. She married Myles “MT” Crum Jr. on September 2, 1955. Shirley was a graduate of Vinson High School and Marshall University, earning a bachelor’s degree in home economics. She was a member of Grace Gospel Church, where she taught Sunday School. Prior to being diagnosed with MS, she worked briefly at the Job Corp. Her 58-year battle with MS earned the admiration and respect of many. She is survived by her husband, Myles “MT” Crum Jr. of Watertown; son Richard (Monarae) Crum of Spring Hill, FL, and granddaughter, Ciara Goethels; son Jeffrey (Kelly) Crum of Juneau, WI, and grandsons Jonathan, Andrew, Benjamin and Michael; two brothers, Bill (Carol) Houchin and Raymond (Gay) Houchin, both of South Point, OH; one sister, Shelby (Fred) Veal of Flowery Branch, GA; six nephews; and many friends. The family appreciates the care provided by the staff of Hospice, Marquardt, Angels on Earth, and many friends. Christian radio was Shirley’s constant companion. Please honor her with a generous designated gift to VCY radio, Milwaukee, WI. Pederson-Nowatka Funeral Home is caring for the family.
