John Erwin Spence
(October 16, 1942 - August 10, 2014)



JOHN E. SPENCE, Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Shoals, W.Va., born October 16, 1942, passed suddenly in Columbus, Ohio on August 10, 2014. John served proudly in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1964. He retired from ARMCO with 20 years of service. He also worked and retired from Tonopah Test Site in 2005. John was an avid lover of classic country music and an accomplished guitarist and lifetime NRA member. Preceded in death by father John Henry Spence, mother Gladys Marie (Perdue) Spence and brother Wallace Albert Spence. Survived by his wife Sandra (Stump) Spence and beloved Boston Terriers Annie and Benny of Columbus, Ohio; sister Lelia Smith of Las Vegas, Nev.; son J.K. (Renee' Ramey) Spence of Huntington, W.Va.; daughter Jennifer (Darryl) Pocock of Las Vegas, Nev.; stepson Robb (Sarah) Moore and stepdaughter Jerri (Rich) Leist, all of Columbus, Ohio. Grandchildren Michael, Heather, Darryl Jr, Marie, Amanda, Trista; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews; lifetime friends Don Britton, Danny Beckley, Greg Bentle, Tom Nixon, Ed Peterson, Stanley/Hall family of Ashland, Ky., and many more friends and family. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Reger Funeral Chapel. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Reger Funeral Home, Huntington.
