Mary Pauline Nelson
(February 24, 1930 - June 22, 2014)



Mary Pauline (Cosand) Nelson, 84, of Huntington, passed away suddenly, Sunday June 22, 2014 at her son’s home in Toms River, NJ. Mary was born February 24, 1930 in Marion County, Indiana to the late Fred and Fannie Riggs Cosand. Along with her parents also preceding her in death was her husband of 66 years Burman Nelson, her only sibling Mildred “Sister” Haynie, maternal grandparents Tommy and Amanda Riggs and five aunts, Aileen Mealey, Pauline Brumfield, Grace Nunes, Mabel Cole and Gladys May, all of whom assisted her grandmother in raising her and her sister following their mother’s death. Mary attended Buffalo-Wayne High School, she was a homemaker and caring individual whose home was always filled with family and friends. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, bird watching, cooking for and serving others. Mary is survived by three children, Linda Sue (David) Lemons, Rinda (Mark) Duncan, Burman Allen (Annie) Nelson; five grandchildren of whom she played a major role in their lives, David Nelson (Debbie) Lemons, Ronald Smith, Shane Smith, Leah Lemons and Mary Frances (Eddie) Pratt; five additional grandchildren Toni Hamilton, Johnny, Erin, Shane and Travis Kearney; twelve great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a very special niece Patty McCoy; special neighbors Jonny and Emma Blatt, a special friend of the family Kay Spry and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Mary will be missed by all who knew and loved her and wonderful memories will be cherished forever. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Saturday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Willie May. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Kenova, WV. Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Friday at the Reger Funeral Home.
