Obituary

Ralph Henson
(June 2, 1927 - November 2, 2014)



Ralph L. Henson of Huntington, WV passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Huntington Health Rehabilitation Center. Graveside services with military rites will be conducted on Saturday at 2 pm, November 8, 2014 at the Forest Memorial Park, Milton, WV by Pastor Rick Glass. Ralph was born on June 2 1927 in Chesapeake, Ohio the son of the late James and Marjorie McCallister Henson, In addition to his parents he was preceded by his brothers James and Kenneth. He is survived by his wife Nancy Carroll Henson, his son and daughter in law Dwight D. and Nancy D. Henson. Ralph left high school as soon as he had enough credits to graduate. He did not attend his commencement. Instead, he enlisted in the United States Navy to serve in WWII. He was a seaman first class on the USS General S. Heintzelmann in the Pacific. He was a gunner on the ship and a marksman with handheld weaponry. He worked and retired from CSX Transportation with 37 years of service. Twenty three of those years were spent in working in Grand Rapids, MI. Ralph had many friends and worked tirelessly for his Lord and church and his family. He will be missed greatly by those with whom he worked and worshipped. He will be missed most of all by his family and close friends. He donated both his time and money to the Huntington City Mission. Please feel free to make a donation of time and/or money to the Huntington City Mission in lieu of flowers.
