James Jay “JJ” Mattox, 49, of East Lynn, W. Va., passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 24, 2015, at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Rev. Calvin Terry, Rev. John Skaggs and Rev. Joseph Bragg. Burial will be in Burlington-Greenlawn Cemetery, Burlington, Ohio. “JJ” was born July 18, 1966 in Cabell County, W. Va. A son of Shirley Mae Hamilton of East Lynn, W. Va. and the late Hiawatha James Jay Mattox. He attended numerous churches. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father John B. Hamilton, sister Victoria La Vonne Mattox, maternal grandparents Leitha Lewis Bragg Nutter and Martin David Lewis, step-maternal grandfather Hobert Nutter, paternal grandparents William McKinley and Margaret Lula Collins Mattox and his nephew Dante’ L. Loving. In addition to his mother, survivors include a brother Patrick Thomas Mattox of Ashland, Kentucky and a sister Margaret Anne Mattox of East Lynn, W. Va. Friends may call from noon till service time Saturday at the Reger Funeral Home, Huntington.
