Obituary



Reverend Merle D. Tiller, 76, of Proctorville, Ohio, departed this earth on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at River’s Bend Health Care, Burlington, Ohio, to begin her eternal residence in Heaven. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Saturday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor William Kouns and Reverend Carlene Kouns. Burial will be at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, W. Va. Merle was born September 29, 1938 in Huntington, W. Va., a daughter of the late Oliver Leslie and Freda Merle (Sparks) Downs. She was a member of First Huntington Christian Baptist Church and an ordained minister of the Christian Baptist Association. She was preceded in death by her husband David G. Tiller, her youngest son Jeffrey M. Tiller, her sisters Carlene Garten and Marilyn Rawling; her nephew, Kenneth S. Garten. Survivors include a son, David Michael Tiller, grandson, Brandon M. Tiller; grandson Matthew D. tiller and his wife Aliona Tiller; her granddaughter and her husband, Amanda (Paul) McComas and grandsons; Tucker and Grant McComas; a nephew and his wife Rick (Barbara) Garten; nephew Joseph Alan Beach and his son Brayden Joseph Beach; a niece who she considered a daughter Tracy Hoover and her children, Megan and Olivia Hoover; and a very special sister-in-law Kay (Tiller) Wooldridge and her husband, Bill. Merle was most blessed with a wonderful church family. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday, September 4, 2015 at the Reger Funeral Home.
