Obituary



Ernest Earls, Jr. of Proctorville OH, born January 6, 1936, passed away December 10, 2017, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Ernie was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Dickerson Earls, his parents, Ernest and Leslie Earls as well as brothers Clyde, John and Jim Earls and sisters Sybil Ford and Calla Mae Carson. Over the years Ernie held many titles such as Supervisor for Houdaille Industries, dispatcher and bus driver for TTA and charter buses, security guard at Camden Park and what was formerly known as the Huntington Civic Center, in addition to carpenter and contractor. The title he wore most proudly was that of Poppaw. Ernie is survived by four daughters; Pam (Ed) Wetmore of New Hampshire, Jackie Ball of Chesapeake, Terri Cash of Mozambique, and Karen Graham of Proctorville; nine grandchildren; Heather (Bob) Smethurst of Massachusetts, Niccole (Mark) Franklin of South Carolina, Dani Cash of Chesapeake, Sarah (Heath) Lafferty of Chesapeake, Alex (Chris) Kandrach of Cincinnati, Jay Graham of Columbus, Christopher Wetmore of New Hampshire, Katie (David) Bickett of Prestonsburg, and Caleb Graham of Proctorville; and four great granddaughters; Cassie, Lainey and Emalee Franklin and Harper Smethurst. Ernie is also survived by brothers George Earls of Pennsylvania, Jerry Earls of Huntington and Mike Earls of Lesage. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects Thursday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Reger Funeral Home in Huntington WV. Memorial Service will be on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Reger Funeral Chapel and the burial will take place at Spring Valley Memorial Gardens.
