Obituary

Helen Marie Billups Webb, 88, of Ceredo, passed away Monday December 4, 2017 at her residence. Helen is the widow of the late David Webb and the daughter of the late Paul and Marie Billups. Helen was preceded in death by her brothers Clyde Billups and Robert Billups. She is survived by her brother James Billups (Pat) and her sister Judy Billups Akers (Gary), sisters-in-law Hazel Billups, Beverly Billups, and Ruth Miller, and several nieces and nephews. Helen was a girl of 17 when her mother Marie Workman Billups died. As the oldest of five children from one to 17 years old, she stepped in, and with her father Paul, became the caregiver for her four younger siblings. When they became adults, her three brothers and one sister realized the sacrifices she had made on their behalf. When their father remarried six years later, Helen was free to move on with her life. Once Helen married, she and David loved to travel. They traveled all around the United States and to far away places like New Zealand, Russia, China, and many other countries. Helen was active in the Huntington chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had a strong interest in genealogy and helped many people in the search for their heritage. Helen was extremely blessed to have her nephew and his wife, James Anthony (“Tony”) Billups and Melissa Billups, in her life. For the last several years, Tony and Melissa have selflessly provided companionship and care to Helen, ensuring she was able to stay in her home through the end of her life. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Friday at Crescent Hill Cemetery, Ceredo, by Pastor Rodney Hale. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation or procession to the cemetery.
