Obituary



Margaret Sue "Peggy" Massey, went to be with The Lord on Sunday, June 10, 2018, she was 73 years old. Peggy was born in Richmond, Virginia on September 14, 1944. She was preceded in death by her parents Sue Virginia Coleman and Harry Brandon Coleman. Survivors include one daughter, Mary M. Russell and three grandsons, David, Benjamin and Jonathan Russell. Cousins living in Virginia include Art A. Phaup, Jr., A. A. Phaup, III, Patricia Mottley, Barbara Ann Pastore, David Pastore, Bob Davidson and Bill Davidson. Peggy was a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, where she belonged to the Homebuilders Sunday School Class and Circle 11. Peggy received her AB degree from Marshall University, with majors in English, Biology and General Science. Her MA degree was in Communications Arts. Additional hours were completed in the Gifted Program. In addition to teaching school for twenty-two years, Peggy taught swimming and life guarded for eighteen years, including mangager of the swimming pool at the Guyan Country Club. Teaching experiences include Enslow Junior, Beverly Hills Junior, Commack Junior, Huntington East High, Musselman High and Hedgesville, High. Also Peggy was the Director Teacher of Highlawn Presbyterian Church Kindergarton and Princeton Presbyterian Church Kindergarten. In addition to teaching Chemical and Physical Science, Peggy taught Biology, English, Photography, Newspaper and Yearbook. In lieu of flowers donations are requested to be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105-9959. A Memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 PM Saturday, June 16 2018 at The Fifth Avenue Baptist Church Chapel.
