Obituary



Devetta Sue "Betty" Nelson, 76, of South Point, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at her residence after extended illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Reger Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Betty was born on August 24, 1941 in Logan County, WV to the late Raymond (Ray) and Ethel Miller Skeens. Betty was also the owner and operator of Nelson’s Kiddie Korner and Sue’s Mini Mart of Huntington. In addition to her parents Betty was preceded in death by her husband Glenn F. Nelson; a son, Glenn Allen Nelson; grandson, Robert O. Rutherford II; son-in-law, Gary A. Terry; and five brothers, Charles, Edward, Paul, Wallace, and Danny Skeens and survived by one sister, Anna Jean Cooke. She is also survived by her son, William “Keith” (Karol) Nelson; daughters, Devetta “Kay” Terry and Carol (Robert) Rutherford; five grandchildren, Lee Anna (Scott) Thomas, Spring (Shawn) Rutherford, Summer (Brenton) Nelson, Rachael Nelson, Alissa N. (Justin) Deeds; eleven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to give a special thanks to Linda, Dee Dee, Alecia, Pam, Dr. Downs and Community Hospice of Ashland, KY. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Ashland, 1480 Carter Avenue, Ashland, KY 41101. Pallbearers will be: Ray and Dakota Sarabia, Robert Rutherford, Scott Thomas, Justin Deeds, Bryan and Nicholas Childers. Friends may call from noon until service time on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Reger Funeral Home.
