Gloria Jean Coates
(November 10, 1930 - October 11, 2018)



Gloria Jean Coates, 87, of Huntington, went home to be with the Lord, on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Jeffrey Lycans at 2 pm on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Reger Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Dock's Creek Cemetery. Gloria was born on November 10, 1930 in Cabell County, WV, to the late Harry Randall and Tressie Carter Morrison. She worked in the Vinson Band Boosters, Westmorelan P.T.A., and was baptised at Westmorelan Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Morrison; and two sisters, Mildred Chapman and Barbara Carter. She is suvived by her loving husband of 68 years, James Elder Coates -the love of her life-; a loving and devoted daughter, Marsha Gail (Paul Wesley) Chandler of Estero, FL; she held a special place in her heart for her grandchild, James Wesley (Joleana) Chandler of Naples, FL., and her two great grandchildren, Elena and Evan Chandler of Naples, FL.; a brother, Richard Carter; a sister-in-law, Regina Ball of Barboursville, WV, and a very special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Stanley (Janet) Coates of Proctorville, OH; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Debra Davis for her outstanding care. Friends may call from noon until service time on Tuesday at the Reger Funeral Home.
